Here at tellybug towers we look closely at what people are doing around TV.
One thing we’ve been tracking is this year’s X Factor - which has so far amassed over 4m tweets, and the series isn’t over yet.
So what does the pattern of tweets look like?
So what do we see? X Factor is slow to start - the first couple of shows got small numbers of tweets, but once the schools go back around TX3 the volume jumps.
The second volume jump is at TX12 - when the show goes live - for this analysis we’ve added together the volume from Saturday and Sunday night’s shows - but the first live show stands out - with 366,125 tweets during the show - which beats the previous high of 192,504 tweets from TX11.
During the live shows we see a dip around TX16 - why? This was the 5th November - Bonfire night in the UK, which reduced the amount of live tweeting alongside the show.
We’ll continue tracking for the rest of the series.
TV producers or journalists who are interested in this data for other shows please feel free to contact us - we’d be happy to share what we are learning.
