Panel discussions at events are a great way to explore a topic while avoiding boring audiences with pre-prepared corporate marketing presentations.
A challenge with any panel discussion is to make sure that there is some discussion amongst the panelists - interesting panels include disagreements between people.
Audience participation can help here - there will be a range of differences in opinion from the audience. At Mobile World Congress Live Talkback was used to inform the conversation with the views of the experts in the audience. These views allowed the experts on the panel to explore some of the different options - there were some significant differences in the views among the audience on the best way to deal with the increases in mobile data. The audience were split - the top 3 most popular routes were
- Traffic offload to WiFi (34% thought this was best)
- Bandwidth caps and service tiering (31% thought this was best)
- Re-architecting mobile backhaul (18% thought this was best)
By highlighting the differences in the routes, the panel was able to discuss, and contrast the different methods, educating the audience as to the differences, and ultimately helping them make the tough decisions on where they should invest.
