Tellybug is your one-stop, second-screen companion to everything that is on UK Freeview television.
We are a small group of technology professionals who have spent the last 15+ years developing and commercialising consumer focused technologies and products for the wireless industry. We are passionate about delivering exciting and delightful user experiences by applying the technology around us.
We are all avid TV watchers and social networkers. We became frustrated with trying to follow conversations around TV shows by using Twitter hashtags and searches. So, we came up with ways to analyse the Twitter stream to identify and filter the ‘chat’ around specific shows and then bring this into an app that would effectively ‘socialise’ TV watching.
FIND - Tellybug helps you find the ‘buzz’ around shows on TV; created by your friends and the entire audience. It will let you know what are the most talked about shows, when they are on, what your friends are watching and which shows let you interact with them.
CHAT – Join the audience and contribute to the buzz. Chat with your friends and the extended audience who are all there watching with you.
PLAY – Once you’ve found the hottest show around and joined the audience, Tellybug gives you exciting ways to interact and play-along directly with the programme and alongside your mates.
SHARE – Become part of a virtual living room and share your thoughts and comments with others. Invite your friends to play-along and share your scores.
The core of Tellybug is an intelligent engine that consumes the Twitter/Facebook firehose to provide you with the up-to-date conversations around specific television programmes. It filters out the irrelevant noise and let’s you focus on what your friends are saying as well as highlighting the best chat from elsewhere.
Tellybug is your virtual living room where everyone comes to watch the shows you like the most. Once you’re there you can not only chat with others but also access related content and interact with the show directly.
Firstly, Tellybug tells you which TV programmes are creating the most buzz. On starting Tellybug you’ll see which shows have had the most Twitter and Facebook activity and which shows your friends are watching. By understanding which shows you like to watch and have commented on in the past, Tellybug further refines the discovery of shows that you want to watch.
We are already working with some great names in British TV including ITV, Channel 4, Sky, ESPN and Liverpool FC TV. Through our sister brand ‘Live Talkback’ we already create real-time TV interaction via live polling on Sky News ‘Boulton & Co.’, ITV’s ‘This Morning, LFCTV’s ‘Countdown to Kickoff’, ‘This is Anfield’ and ‘LFC Interactive Now’ as well as a number of live ESPN sports shows.
